Get To Know Our Canary Wharf Coaches
Jack Knight BSc (hons)
"My passion for personal training stems from a natural curiosity in how the body moves and a childhood dominated by sport. Anatomy & Physiology quickly became the forefront of my studies and following my A-Levels I qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2012 and started to build on my innate interest in coaching.
I went on to study Sport Science (Strength & Conditioning) BSc in Cambridge which allowed me to dive into human mechanics and work in a sporting environment alongside athletes. Specialising in Biomechanics, Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition and Strength & Conditioning, this focus allowed me to hone my understanding of how to optimise human performance.
Throughout my degree I continued my work as a personal trainer and following my graduation, I was offered a job working at one of the biggest corporate gyms in Europe at HSBC HQ in Canary Wharf, London. It was here that I really married my core values and coaching service. My growth mindset and professionalism worked well in the corporate setting and after a period of time I was made the Lead Personal Trainer on site. Education and imparting knowledge has always been a core value of mine and it was this that led me to create and oversee an education programme for the other trainers in the gym which I am still involved with to this day.
My passion in helping people take back control of their health and fitness and is evident in all my coaching philosophies. All ten plus years of my coaching experience have helped me to build this service and I am happy to be able to share it with so many different people. I still love to work 1-1 with my amazing clients and support them in achieving their desired outcomes and will continue to do so into the future." - Jack.
Alex Mardapittas BSc (hons)
“Similarly to Jack my interest in coaching and personal training has deep roots in my childhood, where I exhibited an enthusiasm for the world of sports. Throughout my teenage years, I actively participated in and competed in various sports, including football and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It became evident to me that a career in this field was inevitable.
My journey began with football coaching. I served as an assistant coach for Arsenal academies in Cyprus. In 2017, I embarked on a 14-month military service, during which I was selected to serve in the Special Forces unit of Cyprus, attaining the rank of Corporal. Upon completing my national duty, I pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Swansea University. This educational path allowed me to learn more about the mechanics of the human body and work within a sports-oriented environment.
Throughout my academic journey, I actively sought opportunities to gain valuable coaching and training experience with athletes and the general population, aiming to expand and refine my coaching knowledge. Following my graduation, I accepted a role on a graduate program with Fitness Mastery, located in Canary Wharf, London. During this time I had the opportunity to refine my coaching skills and gain invaluable experience working with different people in the Wharf.
My continued dedication to personal and professional growth culminated in my promotion to the position of Studio Manager at Sweat Clubs within my first 16 months. This eventually led me to managing and overseeing the business in a very challenging environment/market, while concurrently fostering a collaborative workspace for fellow trainers and colleagues.
My relentless pursuit of fresh challenges and continuous development has led me to join JKPT, where I have the privilege of working alongside an exceptional mentor and friend. I’m excited to a part of what I believe to be a truly unique and exceptional personal training service here in Canary Wharf.” - Alex.
